Description
You start at the Ochsenboden bus stop 929 m above sea level in Studen. Follow the hiking trail towards Gribschli / Sihlseeli. The first section runs on the road through the 18-hole Ybrig golf course. At the back, the road winds along the slope by the Sihl over several fords through side streams to Gribschli. Then continue on the white-blue marked alpine hiking trail over the Sihl. The path winds through the forest up to Alp Fläschen. After just under an hour you overcome 300 meters in altitude. The path then continues over alpine meadows and smaller streams to the idyllic mountain lake Sihlseeli at 1829 meters above sea level.
The Sihlseeli has an underground outflow. In spring, char are regularly released into the Sihlseeli by the Einsiedeln fishing association. Anyone with an annual permit for Lake Sihl is allowed to fish in the Sihlseeli.
The return route goes via mountain trail to Untersihl, at Stägli you cross the bridge over the Sihl and then return to Gribschli. From there, the route is the same as on the outbound path.
Variants: From the Sihlseeli, different routes can be taken, such as over the Saaspass to Au on Lake Wägital, which you can reach in about three hours.
Plan your route before the hike and inform yourself about bus schedules and the weather forecast. Allow enough spare time.
Note: If the footbridge at Gripschli is not there, the hike must be continued via Stägli.
