Description

After the storm Lothar raged in 1999, traditional timber use was abandoned in a forest area below Heiligkreuz, and a 500m long boardwalk was built from the "Lothar wood" that leads slightly elevated through the magical blueberry and fern forest. Here, you will be taken out of the overwhelming and hectic everyday life, encounter creation in a sensual way, and are gently introduced with the symbol of a snail to the themes that the circular route stands for: Becoming, Being, and Passing Away. Already after a short stay, you will feel reborn and strengthened for everyday life.

Not far from the Seelensteg is the power tree. A sycamore maple and a true giant. It is several hundred years old and has formed a thirty-meter-wide crown. It is the pure symbol of healthy vitality.

Directions: From the pilgrimage church, follow the road back down into the valley. After a few meters, you will see a meadow path on the left side of the road. Follow the path until a junction leads left into the forest. Across a bridge, which is a symbolic connection of two worlds, you reach the Seelensteg. From here, you will be accompanied by a small snail that shows you the forest from new, unusual perspectives. After about 500 meters, you come back to the starting point. From here, you can take the same path back over the bridge to the pilgrimage church, or you can follow the wide forest path that leads you back to the pilgrimage church via a residential street.
