Description
“Round shapes prevail not only in the landscape; almost all stones in the underground are rounded: gravel, rubble and sand. Sometimes they are baked and solidified together. Then they even form smaller rock walls. Sometimes they lie in a loose jumble. In other places, however, they are neatly sorted by size. You may know that pebbles and sand are transported by rivers and are therefore mostly found in the riverbed; but how did these huge amounts of pebbles and sand get to the highest heights of Thurgau? The mysteries of the round stones lead to traces of huge glaciers, wide streams that flowed toward the Mediterranean, and even to the seabed.
You follow these traces on the Geo-Route. It takes you on an exciting discovery journey through the geological diversity and the captivating landscape of Thurgau.
