Description

The moderately difficult hike begins at Luchsingen-Hätzigen station. We walk comfortably on a well-developed hiking trail towards Hüttenberg, Täli, towards Haslen. Always with a great view into the Linthal (Grosstal) and of the Glärnisch massif. After the first ascent, the path leads practically without altitude difference through the forest towards Tannenberg. Large damages caused by Storm Vivian, which destroyed large parts of the forest on the Schwanderberg in February 1990, are still clearly visible at the observation tower. Part of it has been reforested, part has been left to itself. Since then, the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research has documented changes in these experimental plots. Interesting information boards at the tower provide details. A small detour leads us to the center of the canton of Glarus with a comfortable bench.Continue via Niederental along the Niederenbach towards Schwanden.
