Description
At Wasserscheidi, follow the signpost towards Underi Gantrischhütte – Schwefelberg Bad. After a few meters of paved surface, the hike leads downhill via a path and a forest road, over alpine pastures and forest past the Untere Gantrischhütte to Schwefelberg Bad. The sulphur spring was first mentioned in a document in 1561 and the hotel is now known as a wellness oasis (currently closed). Now continue on a forest road towards Süftenenegg, initially downhill to the bridge over the Gantrischsense. Shortly after crossing the Sollergraben, the hiking route leaves the forest road and leads uphill through an alpine pasture. At the height of Grönhütte, you reach a forest road, which is followed first over alpine pastures, then through forest to Süftenenegg. Here turn right towards Schüpfeflue. The path continues through the forest. The Schüpfeflue rewards the ascent with a magnificent view from the Freiburg Pre-Alps across the Central Plateau to the Jura. To the south, the mountains of the Stockhorn range nünenen, Gantrisch, Bürglen and Ochsen appear close enough to touch. Benches and a fire pit invite you to rest. Further on, follow the signposts to Selibüelsattel and Selibüelhütte. The route continues mostly through forest, first on the ridge, then along the slope. After leaving the forest, the view opens up to Lake Thun, Eiger and Mönch. Shortly after Selibüelhütte, leave the road and first cross an alpine pasture, later forest, to reach the destination Wasserscheidi.
