Description
The route starts in Romanshorn. Rental bikes can be obtained directly at the station. On the Mittelland Route, the trail first leads to the hamlet of Hungerbühl, where it connects with the Seerücken Route. This route is followed for a longer stretch, passing many highlights. For example, the forest tavern in the Romanshorn forest soon invites you to take a break under cool, shady trees. Then the path alternates between small villages and forests until reaching the Bommer ponds. These are very idyllic, located in a gentle terrain hollow, are nature protected, and are an important habitat for waterfowl and amphibians.
It is then not far to Wäldi and the hamlet of Hohenrain. There stands the Napoléon Tower, opened in 2017, which offers magnificent views over Lake Constance and the Alpine range. Finally, the route descends from the Seerücken into the fishing village Ermatingen and along the lake and Seerhein to Kreuzlingen, where bikes can be returned.
