Description

This hike is an insider tip for nature lovers! The tour starts at Bergwelten Salwideli - plan a rest here at the start or end of the hike - and takes you right into the fascinating Habkern-Sörenberg moorland landscape. Mystical moors, unspoilt spruces and mountain pines characterize the landscape. The moor landscape is one of the largest and most impressive moor landscapes in Switzerland (86 km2). It is also part of the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance (BLN).

Step by step, you approach the steep flanks of the Brienz ridge. It is best to take binoculars with you as you are in the middle of the Tannhorn hunting ban area. Wild animals such as ibex, marmots, birds of prey etc. are at home here and can be spotted with patience and a good eye.

Cattle are summered on the Tannisboden alp during the summer months and alp cheese and other cheese specialties (Mutsch, raclette, fine yoghurt) are produced. Hikers and bikers can help themselves at the alpine kiosk and enjoy traditional alpine products - cheese, dried meat, drinks and sweets - at the Sennhütte with its wonderful panoramic views.

Well fortified, the route now heads back via Schönisei and Chüblisbüel. A beautiful and spacious barbecue area awaits at Bärselbach and shortly afterwards the next farm kiosk at the lavishly decorated Schneeberg Alp. Well worth a visit! Now it's not far, via Wagliseiboden you hike back to Bergwelten Salwideli.
