Description
Already the starting point of the hike, S-charl, is worth a visit. From the traffic-free hamlet, the path initially follows the mountain stream Clemgia further into the Val S-charl. After about three kilometers, the path branches off left over the Clemgia into the Val Plazer. Through bright larch forests, the path now climbs somewhat faster to Alp Plazer. Following the watercourse, you eventually reach the Cruschetta pass and thus also cross the border into Italy. On the left side rises the Piz Sesvenna, at 3,204 m above sea level the highest peak on Scuol territory and at the same time the border between Italy and Switzerland. In an even gradient, the path now goes down to the Mitteralm. From there, you always follow the alp road and the footpath along the right side of the Valgarola stream through Val d'Avigna. At the valley exit, the road branches off over the stream towards Taufers (PostBus connection to the Ofen Pass line). To reach Müstair, you follow the forest edge on the right-hand side and will soon see Müstair again after crossing the border, with the St. Johann monastery complex, which, thanks to the unique frescoes, belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. From the PostBus stops at the monastery and in the village center of Müstair, there is a connection to the Ofen Pass line to Zernez and thus eventually back to the starting point Scuol.
