Description
The hike on the wild water trail along the Gürbe is a summer delight for the whole family. From the starting point, Berghaus Gurnigel, you enjoy the magnificent view of the peaks of the Gantrisch range. The path has a gentle gradient throughout, initially running over flowery meadows and later through pleasantly shaded forest. At the foot of Gantrisch and Nüneneflue, several mountain streams emerge, which gather into the young Gürbe in a kilometre-wide funnel. In good weather, the stream babbles harmlessly and idyllically downstream. But after severe thunderstorms, which often occur in the Gantrisch area, the Gürbe can swell into a huge torrent that carries a lot of debris and overflows its banks. Such events have repeatedly caused severe damage. For this reason, the streambed between Schwändli and the plain was fitted with numerous barriers. This has created several water basins in the lower part of the section, which invite refreshing bathing pleasure on hot days.
