Description
In the landscape of Goldau, mighty trees reach into the sky and the piled-up boulders are overgrown with moss. In 1925, the Goldau Nature and Animal Park was founded in this primeval landscape. Around 100 native and European wild animal species, such as wolves, bears and lynxes, ibex, deer, roe deer and many other species live here in a species-appropriate habitat. A visit to the Goldau Animal Park is an experience for children of all ages. The large free-running area of the animals allows close encounters between humans and animals. No bars or fences separate visitors from the sika deer, fallow deer and mouflons. The tame animals gladly allow children to feed and pet them or simply just to watch. Info boards in the park provide information about the lifestyle and behaviour of the animals, animal park rangers answer questions and give tips. The animal park mobile covers the return of wolves and bears, and the bearded vulture exhibition informs about reintroduction projects in the Alps. The hours at the animal park fly by, the visit makes you hungry. Barbecue areas and picnic spots invite you to grill and linger.
