Route among the vineyards: man and the vine

Best Time of Year
Description
The guiding theme of the first route is the relationship between man and the vine: an ancient relationship, protected and encouraged by mythological deities, sung and praised by poets and writers. The themes contained on the panels along the route highlight how viticulture, from a secondary and subordinate agricultural activity compared to crops considered primary from a nutritional point of view, gradually occupied an increasingly important place in the region's economy. A characteristic of this part of southern Ticino is the regular rows that cross the gentle hilly slopes, totaling 300 hectares which constitute the most important vineyard area in the Canton. This is the type of landscape that the circuit, although set in a heavily anthropized and deeply transformed area due to major building expansion, wants to offer the hiker. Using trails and secondary roads and avoiding major traffic arteries, zones that still maintain considerable environmental and landscape quality are crossed, discovering small corners where traces of the past are still evident. In conclusion: an easy and interesting hike, accessible in any season and suitable for any age, even the youngest of hikers.
