Description
From Thusis it goes via Sils i.D. into the Albula Valley. The section up to the Solis Bridge runs on the heavily trafficked and winding Schinstrasse high above the Schyn Gorge. After the Solis Bridge, which runs parallel to the impressive Solis Viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway over the Albula, it goes via the elevation of Alvaschein down to Tiefencastel. At the entrance to Tiefencastel, follow the signpost towards Lantsch/Lenzerheide. From there it goes steadily uphill to Valbella. After a well-deserved break in the Lenzerheide region, the descent with almost 1,000 meters of elevation follows down to Chur.
In Chur, drive on the cantonal road towards Domat Ems to the turnoff to Felsberg and cross the Rhine. Continue via Tamins to Reichenau, the historically rich village dominated by the castle at the confluence of the Hinterrhein and Vorderrhein. It is worth stopping briefly and feeling transported several centuries back in time.
Via Bonaduz and Rhäzüns, ride along the left bank of the Hinterrhein to the turnoff Rothenbrunnen, where the old village bridge is crossed. On the right side of the Hinterrhein in the valley floor of the Domleschg it finally goes relaxed back to Thusis.
