Description
Rehetobel was once a textile village. Here, weaving was initially done for the well-known trading and textile companies in St. Gallen, Trogen, and Speicher, and later embroidery was added. Most of the older buildings in the village were built for the needs of the home and small textile industries. This is still visible today. On an individually walkable audio tour with a guide, you learn about this textile past. Older residents of Rehetobel share their personal memories from this time. This gives you insight into the lives of the weavers and embroiderers as well as the local economic, architectural, and social history.
You can access the audio guide on site in Rehetobel via mobile phone from this site.
The tour starts in Rehetobel, diagonally opposite the community center at the large information board "Textile Village audible". A map on the audio guide shows you the ten signposted locations. The tour lasts about 1 hour and can be walked at any time during the day.
The audio guide www.textildorf.ch is free and provided by the Reading Society of the village of Rehetobel.
