Description

With the Wispile gondola you can comfortably reach the starting point of the route at the mountain station at 1907 m. From the start to Lauenensee you can follow the trail running signs No. 24. The first four kilometers run slightly downhill over the mountain ridge to Chrinetritt. There the path steeply descends to Chrinepass, from where about 100 altitude meters must be mastered directly again. This leads you on the descending mountain path towards the Lauenensee nature reserve.

From Lauenensee follow the yellow hiking trail signs towards Tungelpass. If you like, you can cool off with a refreshing swim in Lauenensee before the most strenuous part of the route begins. Over four kilometers the altitude rises from 1385 m to 2094 m. Nature offers a lot and compensates for the effort. In the mountain hut Stierentungel (observe opening times!) you can take a break, get something to eat, pause briefly and enjoy the wonderful mountain world. From Tungelpass it goes via Stüblenipass, Trütlisbergpass and Turnelssattel to Wasserngrat. You can continue to follow the yellow hiking trail signs towards Wasserngrat mountain station.

From Turnelssattel follows a quite narrow and exposed ridge to Wasserngrat mountain station, running north-south. The exposed sections are secured with ropes, but you should still be fearless and surefooted. After three kilometers on the ridge with breathtaking views you reach the mountain restaurant Wasserngrat (observe opening times!), on whose terrace you can enjoy a meal. If the Wasserngrat chairlift is in operation, you can avoid the descent and choose the comfortable variant. Please also observe operating hours here. Otherwise, the route leads steeply downhill over the last three kilometers to the Wasserngrat valley station. From there, the post bus (observe timetable!) takes you back to the village of Gstaad.
