Piz Mundaun - Ilanz
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
The view is remarkable, considering that Piz Mundaun is only 2064 meters high, you can see from the summit down to 699 meters at Ilanz station. That means a solid 1365 meters of descent – with a large proportion of single trails. The ascent is done by post bus from Ilanz to Surcuolm and by train from Cuolm Sura to Piz Mundaun. Only around 300 meters of elevation must be climbed under your own power, from Surcuolm to Cuolm Sura and a short section from Flond.
At least 1100 meters of uphill ride can be saved without having to feel guilty about not pedaling. Many, partly newly built single trails, short stretches over alpine roads and forest roads bring you back to the start point in less than two hours, where most conclude that not only the view was remarkable.
Attention: Shortly before Luven there is a detour due to danger of falling rocks. This is clearly marked in the terrain and the route has been adjusted accordingly. The village of Luven is bypassed as a result. However, anyone wanting to visit Luven must take a short climb uphill.
