Description
If the pedestrianized historic center of Bellinzona, a city characterized by the fascinating medieval castles which are a UNESCO heritage site, is a must-visit for everyone coming to Ticino, discovering the residential districts and village nuclei that dot the surrounding territory can be a charming surprise even for those who live every day in the southernmost canton of Switzerland.
By bicycle, you can discover charming squares with fountains, playgrounds for the little ones, and green spaces where to recharge away from the hectic everyday life. And if you no longer feel like cycling, no problem: just follow the official signage leading to the numerous railway stations to continue your return journey comfortably by train. The route can be traveled in both directions. Heading north from Bellinzona, after crossing the Moesa river, you will be fascinated by the alpine valleys that offer views towards the heart of the Alps. Heading west, you are naturally drawn to the gentle landscape characterizing the shores of Lake Maggiore.
