Panoramic route

Shortly after starting the hike at Oberdorf station, you reach the climbing area called «Bubichöpfli». Climbing enthusiasts can try their hand at the walls here. The hiking trail leads via Gartenmatt in steep switchbacks to Hinterweissenstein. From there, the route fully lives up to its name. Weissenstein, Röti, and Balmberg are the beautiful viewpoints. In the distance, the snowy Alps shine, and below the Aare River gleams as it winds through the Swiss Plateau. Along the entire route, there are several fireplaces encouraging long breaks.

Before starting the route, one could also visit the dinosaur tracks in the Lommiswil quarry. You can easily reach the dinosaur tracks from Oberdorf station or the valley station of the Weissenstein chairlift by simply following the brown signposts. After a short time, you stand on the viewing platform and enjoy a nice view of the dinosaur tracks. Information boards explain their formation history and convey interesting facts about the life of the dinosaurs.
