Panoramaweg (Schatzalp - Wolfgang)

From Schatzalp, which you can conveniently reach by funicular from Davos Platz, the path passes the Strelaalp restaurant and continues through the upper forest sections past fir and centuries-old larch trees with moderate ascent over alpine pastures to the former valley station of the ski lift. Above the station, the area flattens and soon you reach the Strelapass mountain hut. From here, the almost flat Panoramaweg runs at an average altitude of 2300 m above sea level to the Parsennhütte. One of the most rewarding and comfortable walks overall. On a good path, it then goes down via Stützalp to the Wolfgang Pass.

Schatzalp On a sunny terrace, 300 m above Davos, lies the car-free Schatzalp, which you can easily reach with the funicular. Special attention should be given to the Art Nouveau hotel Schatzalp. The former sanatorium has been operated as a hotel for 50 years. The bestselling author Thomas Mann was inspired at this location for his book "The Magic Mountain," published in 1924. Take a detour to the Alpinum Schatzalp and admire over 1300 plant species. A fun attraction for the whole family is the summer toboggan run.

Strelapass Documented historical records show the Strelapass was already used in earlier centuries. There used to be a simple shelter here. The mountain inn was built in 1937. The name "Strela" was first mentioned in 1338 and derives from the Latin term "striga" = witch.

Panoramaweg The path connects the Strelapass with the Parsennhütte. Enjoy the wonderful view over the Davos landscape.

Parsennhütte The Parsennhütte belongs to the Ski Club Davos. The first hut was inaugurated in 1906 but was completely destroyed by an avalanche in the same winter. In the same year, the hut was rebuilt at a safer location. At the Parsennhütte, you can get fresh drinks, small snacks, and grilled sausages when the weather is nice; otherwise, a snack vending machine is available.

Stützalp "Stütz" refers to the incline of a path or road. Here, it means the incline of the Stützalp path from Schwendi (Wolfgang) up to Stützalp. Over only 700 m (linear distance), this alpine path overcomes an altitude of 220 m.

Wolfgang The name Wolfgang stems from "vulfa" = wolf. Historically, wolves were native in the Davos area. It is possible that the name Wolfgang is related to this. Today, Wolfgang is a well-known pass. The Rhaetian Railway station was built simultaneously with the construction of the Klosters - Davos railway line in 1890. Trains stop upon request. Alternatively, you can return to Davos by bus.

Note(s) In Davos Klosters, hikers and mountain bikers use the same paths without restrictions. This applies to the entire canton of Graubünden and is unique in the Alps.
