Description
One starting point for this circular hike is Lustdorf. Walking westward, you reach the ridge path leading to the Stählibuck tower with a wonderful view of the Alps. The lovely barbecue areas around the tower invite you to stop. Those who prefer to be served take the steep path down to the Stählibuck restaurant.
Via Dingenhart down to the Thunbach, you reach the dreamy hamlet of Chöll (563 m above sea level), where the nearby Freudenberg restaurant invites you for a break. The climb up to Sonnenberg Castle (649 m above sea level) is rewarded in good weather with a splendid view of the Lauchetal valley stretching to the Alpstein and the Glarus Alps. The trail partly passes through forests protected in the federal inventory on Immenberg, at the edge of the drop into the Lauchetal, overlooking the small airfield. The circular hike ends with a descent to the Altbach, along whose idyllic course there are artificial ponds. After a gentle ascent from the Thunbach valley, you return to Lustdorf.
