Description

From the bus station in Eggiwil towards the church and at the road fork over a steep footpath with steps to the wooded ridge of the Rüteberg. On the storm night of December 26, 1999, the hurricane "Lothar" had a particularly devastating effect here. Today the storm has gifted a beautiful insight into the innermost Emmental with Schrattenflue and Hohgant as a finale. Downtowards the Rain, continue to the farms at Glashütte and on the little road to point 790 on the Siehenstrasse. From here 200 m uphill, then a very steep path descends into the shadow forest and leads along a ravine up to Chnubel. The farm name Windbruch nearby suggests the sometimes rough climate here. First on an indistinct path, then over field paths and access roads past the farms Unter and Ober Breitmoos and towards the high terrace of the Natersalp summit. En route magnificent views of the massive Hohgant and the green ridge Rämisgummen-Wachthubel. After another quite steep forest crossing, you gain height to Hinter Naters on a barely visible alpine pasture path sweeping right. Mighty trees shade the wide-roofed alpine buildings. Direct view to the rugged rock bands of Schrattenflue, Schibengütsch, and Hohgant. On a wide alpine path you reach Vorder Naters. From here, alternating over pastureland and through forest area downhill to Oberei. The Süderen-Oberei bus stop is 300 m further southwest on the road to Süderen.
