Description

Mont Soleil is with 1288 m the highest elevation in the Freiberge. From the mountain station of the St-Imier–Mont Soleil funicular a few steps uphill along the horizontally running small road. Here begins the «Sentier découverte». Magnificent is the view to the Chasseral range and into the striking gorge of the Combe Grède. Across meadows and through loose forest you reach at the hilltop Sur la Côte the huge propeller turbines. At the foot of the hill stands the information building, from where a small road leads through park-like landscape to Mont Crosin. On a narrow path next to the road up to the pass height. Here, in an eastern direction on partly overgrown trail in gentle ups and downs through forest and meadow to the large farm Chalet Neuf and on a good forest road to the Bise de Cortébert. You could characterize the landscape on the Montagne du Droit with «Pure Jura», through which you hike, partly off trail, to the Bise de Corgémont and finally to Le Jean Brenin, a branch of the «Foundation for the Horse» in Le Roselet. Shortly after entering the forest you leave the small road leading up from Corgémont and steeply descend to the church of Sombeval and to the Sonceboz-Sombeval station.
