Description

At the signpost at the starting point of the hike, the final stop Romont, the intermediate destination Bözingenberg as well as the target Biel are indicated. First, the route winds through the village and turns at the schoolhouse onto a road leading up to the forest. Further upwards, then level and finally downhill, it goes to La Bergerie. The hike runs on a path through forest and partly pathless over pastures. Straight ahead you can see the Chasseral with its telecommunications facility as a landmark and to the left the Mont Sujet/Spitzberg with its rounded back. The continuation to Bözingenberg can be described similarly. Here, the view surprises with the Three Lakes Region including Lake Biel, Lake Murten, and Lake Neuchâtel, the city of Biel, over the Bernese Midlands to the Alps with Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, or the Niesen and Stockhorn. Now the descent to Biel begins. At the second signpost after Bözingenberg the direct path to the left should be chosen and the Rehweg variant ignored. Shortly after, you enter the forest. The path runs steeply downhill without many curves past the Vorberg signpost. A few steps after the third road crossing to Bözingenberg, the animal park is reached. At the third signpost indicating the location Tierpark (540 meters above sea level), turn right onto a newly built footpath that leads steeply down into the Taubenloch Gorge. Chains or steel tube railings provide safety. Going further downhill, enjoy the impressive gorge. After leaving it, only a few steps remain to the destination, the Biel, Taubenloch bus stop.
