Orenplatte

The Orenplatte lies high above the rock face of Diesbach like a small settlement. This wonderful spot with its magnificent view can be reached from Braunwald in just over an hour.

The Orenplatte has an exciting history: Between 1937 and 1955, there was an aerial cableway here from Diesbach to the top, and there was a guesthouse and some holiday cottages. Only a few traces of the Diesbach-Orenplatte cable car remain, including a mast just before the former mountain station. Around the 1980s almost all traces of the cable car and the guesthouse were removed. About five holiday cottages still stand there today.

From Braunwald, you start towards Schwettiberg, which can be reached from the village in about 25 minutes. Once there, the next destination is the "Strick," where you then leave the village and mostly walk straight towards Orenplatte.

You hike to Luchsingen on a rather steep trail via Schlattberg or Brunnenberg. From Brunnenberg, the aerial cableway goes directly to Luchsingen.
