Description
The Kambly biscuit factory and the periodic painting exhibitions carry the name Trubschachen beyond the national border. Worth seeing are also the beautiful old buildings on the road towards Langnau. From the station, keep to the Ilfis and cross to the other bank. At the mouth of the Trub through the forest, ascend steeply. At Bärgenhüsi, you meet the road, which steadily ascends over the scenic Houenenegg. Only at the Oberhouenen farm does the asphalt end. A driveway leads steeply up to Chäserenegg, narrows to an alpine path, and follows the ridge height of the cantonal border to Rämisgummen. Overwhelming panoramic view! The cantonal border between Bern and Lucerne is said to have been established at the time by a high-ranking delegation from the two cities. For several weeks, the "border crossers" walked the terrain. Legend has it that on Wachthubel they became weary of the endeavor, so they drew the border straight from there without regard to topography. Following the border, the hiking trail crosses the east flank of the wooded Pfyffer, leads down to Grosshorben, and climbs, initially just below the ridge, up to Wachthubel. Here, Schrattenflue, Schibengütsch, and Hohgant are within easy reach, and the parish village Schangnau lies in the green valley floor.
