Description
From the Frinvillier-Taubenloch stop down to the village of Frinvillier. In Roman times, two important roads crossed here. One led from Avenches over the Montagne de Diesse to Solothurn; the other from Petinesca over the Pierre Pertuis to the Rhine. Cross the Suze on the bridge and after a few steps join the path that climbs steeply through the forest. At the farm Les Coperies, the landscape changes into typical local pastures. With a gentler ascent, you reach La Ragie and the southern ridge of the Chasseral. Along a scenic high path, you reach the Cabane du Jura and the hiking trail cross Clédar de Pierrefeu. Past the Les Colisses cattle shed, the path goes over several terrain bumps to the junction above La Neuve and to the imposing directional radio and TV antenna on the Chasseral. At 1607.4 m, its summit is the highest point in the Bernese Jura and at the same time the second highest in the Swiss Jura. The panoramic view is complete and overwhelming, especially in autumn when a sea of fog covers the lowlands of the Swiss Plateau.
