Description

The starting point of the hike is the Albispasshöhe at 790 meters above sea level, where Zürich is connected with Central Switzerland. The path first leads southeast to the Hochwacht viewpoint, gently down to Schnabellücken, and from there up to Bürglen. Up to the Albishorn, you now hike at an altitude of around 900 meters above sea level. Views include Lake Zürich and Türlersee.

At Albishorn begins the second part of the hike: You leave the ridge and descend into the Sihlwald natural forest, which with its 1100 hectares of area is considered the largest near-natural beech mixed forest in the Swiss Midlands. This is due to the fact that it has not been managed since the year 2000. In 2010, the Sihlwald received the label "Nature Experience Park." Its characteristic is the combination of usage opportunities for people and undisturbed habitats for animals and plants. To make this work, especially in the core zone, through which the hike partially leads and which is marked, a great deal of consideration is required. For example, the paths must not be left.

A few minutes from the end point of the hike lies the visitor center of the Sihlwald Nature Experience Park. Its natural history museum is closed in winter, but the outdoor area with playground, campfire sites, and an otter enclosure is accessible all year round.
