Obergurnigel Trail: View on the ridge (signaled)

The Obergurnigel Trail starts at Berghaus Gurnigel and leads with little difference in altitude via Gurnigelberghütte to the pyramid-shaped survey signal of the Obere Gurnigel. The snow-covered picnic area is perfect for a stopover. The view from there of the Central Plateau, the Emmental valley and the Bernese Alps is impressive. Continue along the same route back over the panoramic ridge on the Gurnigelberg, where snow cornices piled up by the west wind line the trail. At point 1503, the trail turns off to the right and leads up and down through Schelmeloch and on through snow-covered pine forest. The descent begins after Stockweid. The trail continues above the Stockhütte and then on to the Gurnigelbad. Do not leave the signposted trail, wildlife rest area.
