Description

The path begins at the parking lot at the forest edge. A total of eight orientation boards explain the special features of an oak forest and its management. Forest hikers can see from various stand images that, alongside the venerable oaks, the young oak generation is also well represented. The path passes the 90-year-old experimental plot of pedunculate and sessile oaks. Oaks were planted not only for their wood but also served as fruit trees. The Germans obtained flour from acorns. In the Middle Ages, pigs were driven into the forest. The acorns ensured very good meat. In times of need, coffee was made from roasted acorns. The tannins in the bark could be used by tanners for leather production, and acorns were even used as medicine.
