Mythische Orte am Oberrhein - Eptingen – Oltingen

The classic Jurassic Tour demands a lot from us and our battery. But it also offers a lot. You won't forget the panoramic view from the Belchenfluh viewing platform in a hurry. We start at Pratteln railway station and follow the Ergolz to the cantonal town of Liestal and from there continue south-east to Sissach. The first chains of the Jura have now been comfortably crossed. From now on, it's uphill - and a steep one at that! Up to Diegten the gradient is still limited, but then the Bölchen road awaits us and with it another 500 metres in altitude up to the Chilchzimmersattel between the Belchenfluh and the imposing Rehhag range.

From here, it would be a worthwhile 30-minute walk to the Bölchen summit. You could also cross the saddle and cycle to the ancient Schönthal monastery near Langenbruck, but that would be a different tour. We return to Ober-Bölchen and cycle towards Olten to Hauenstein, from where we continue eastwards over another Jura saddle down to Wisen. We reach the Ergolz valley again via small mountain sections between Zeglingen and Oltingen near the village of Rothenfluh. These lead us back to Sissach via Gelterkinden and then down to the starting point via the familiar route.
