Description
The path gently leads through the hilly landscape shaped by glaciers thousands of years ago. On the surrounding flatter and rather damp soils, unique reed meadows with a large number of specialized and rare plant species have developed over centuries. The reed meadows are listed in the inventory of nationally important fens.
Along these valuable reed meadows, several different orchid species can be admired. You can see many of these species directly from the path. Take your time to observe the colorful and partly very fragrant plants up close. The ideal time to observe orchids is early summer.
At the Aesch height or at the Freyenweiher pond, you can enjoy the sensational view. On the bench in the shade of the linden tree, you look out over Lake Zurich and the Obersee and the islands of Ufnau and Lützelau.
