Monstein Vineyard Trail

The south-southeast facing vineyards in the Rhine Valley, situated on Monstein near Au, have always been a popular place to hike. The Au wine-growing cooperative has created a new vineyard trail here, complete with information boards on winegrowing and its history in the region.

You’ll need about two hours in total if you take your time to read the six informative panels about the history and present of viticulture along the new vineyard trail and stop to gaze in wonder at the magnificent landscape of the Rhine Valley.

The well-signposted hike through the Au vineyards starts either at the town hall or at the observation point up in the town of Hard. Here you will find large welcome boards with detailed directions and some interesting introductory information. Another board features the wine producers in Au.
