Description
From the hamlet of Fuhren, the route climbs quickly over pastureland and through mountain forest. Individual exposed sections secured with a rope allow beautiful views into the Gadmer valley. The Trift valley is clearly shaped by the forces of nature. Storms, avalanches, and rockfalls have left their mark on the primeval mountain forests.
Sunny Trift is the name of the location of the cable car building with a bistro. Its counterpart is the Shady Trift on the opposite side of the valley. From there, you descend on the old Windegg path to Schwendi.
On the descent, you pass a picturesque forest clearing characterized by numerous erratic boulders: the Inneres Erggeli area is a secluded world away from civilization. Sheep and cattle keep the forest successfully at bay and thus contribute to the preservation of rich biodiversity. The area was awarded the cultural landscape prize of the Oberland-East region in 2016.
Continuing downwards, you reach the gorge of the Trift waters and via Chäppeli arrive at the valley station of the Trift cable car.
