LEK Schwyz circular route "Around the Kleine Mythen"
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
The approach from the Rotenfluebahn leads on foot to Alp Zwüschet-Mythen. At the alp there is the opportunity to refresh yourself during the alpine season or buy alpine cheese. Afterwards, there is a short climb to the Zwüschet Mythen viewpoint. As a reward, a magnificent panoramic view awaits, including Lake Lucerne and Lake Lauerz as well as the Rigi. Benches invite you to linger and enjoy.
Then you descend over stone steps, with fantastic views again and again. With some luck, Turk's cap lilies and a variety of orchids can be discovered along the path. The circular route then leads mostly through forest to Hagenegg. From there, the view of the Schwyz valley basin and the surrounding Central Swiss mountains can be enjoyed once more. From the pilgrim chapel, built in 1700 at Hagenegg, the path passes the alpine cheese dairy Gummen. There, dairy products are available during the alpine season. The circular route leads over alpine pastures before transitioning into the forest. The forest's undergrowth largely consists of blueberries, which invite nibbling especially in autumn. Then follows another short section through open land with a wonderful view of the Kleine Mythen. Regardless of season and weather, the Kleine Mythen and its sister, the Grosse Mythen, appear mystical.
The "Rund um die Kleine Mythen" circular route follows along paved and unpaved paths around the Kleine Mythen. We recommend starting from the Rotenflue mountain station. A somewhat more strenuous approach can also be chosen via the Einsiedelei Tschütschi.
