Description
Urmiberg – Traditional Cultural Landscape From Schwyz train station, you reach in a few minutes the underpass of motorway A4 at the foot of the Urmiberg. During the ascent, you always have the Fronalpstock in view – the magnificent Mythen stand behind you. The latter can be leisurely admired during a first rest pause from one of the benches. Along the hiking trail, typical local plant species can be observed. Amidst the traditional cultural landscape, shaped by high-stem field fruit trees and dry stone walls, there is a splendid view over the municipality of Schwyz.
Back to the valley floor at the Muota The descent leads walkers over meadows, along landscape-typical hedgerows down to the valley floor and occasionally on Ingenbohl municipal land. In the distance, there is a momentary view of Lake Uri. At the bottom, a bridge crosses the Seeweren and the Muota, which first meet here and then flow about three kilometers downstream near Brunnen into Lake Lucerne. The path then leads for a short section on the left bank upstream along the Muota.
Through the settlement edge to the train station From the Muota, the circular route passes the Agro Energie and the Wintersried sports facility, through intensively used agricultural land to the edge of Schwyz settlement. Along the Lückenstrasse lined with a row of trees, there is a great view past the Fronalpstock to the Alps. Individual seating invites you to linger. On the way back to the station, a detour to the Federal Charter Museum is worthwhile. Along Bahnhofstrasse, magnificent buildings and an impressive stock of old trees can be admired.
