Leiterli - Tungelpass - Lauenensee

The Betelberg gondola takes hikers directly into the wonderful mountain world on the Leiterli at just under 2000 m above sea level. From the mountain station, the path mostly runs flat, past the Gryden. In summer, numerous pink blooming alpine roses line the path. The Gryden are a bizarre crater landscape shaped by weathering over centuries. The Gryden represent a very special and unusual landscape. Continuing toward the Tungelpass, the path leads over a constant up and down along or through managed alpine pastures and the rugged rock faces of the Iffig- and Niesehore mountains. Along the way, it's recommended to stop, look around, and enjoy the wonderful panorama. At the Tungelpass, turn right and hike over alpine meadows filled with flowers toward Stieretungel and Chüetungel. In summer, cows peacefully graze on this plateau, and during the alpine season, the Stierentungel alp runs a small mountain restaurant. The view to the Wildhorn area from here is breathtaking. The last part of the hike descends steeply in zigzags parallel to the Tungelschuss waterfall down to the Lauenensee. The deep blue lake can be spotted from far above through the trees. A perfect spot for great photos of Lauenensee. It is worth planning some time at this beautiful lake. There is also a barbecue spot near the lake, and on hot summer days, some might even dare a plunge into the cool water.

The post bus takes hikers back to Gstaad and the train from Gstaad returns to Lenk.
