Description
First, you ascend about 850 meters in altitude with the Betelberg gondola to 1946 m above sea level. Leiterli is the starting point for various hikes. The hiking trail leads in the first section towards the unique Gryden and then continues almost along the ridge to the Tungelpass. Here you traverse managed alpine pasture and may encounter some cows along the way. From the Tungelpass, the trail climbs steeply over the most difficult section, the Hengstensprung, through rocky terrain. A short section here is secured with a fixed rope. This section is recommended for experienced hikers. On the other side of the Hengstensprung, the descent to the Iffigsee is gentler and greener.
On arrival at Iffigsee, many beautiful spots by the mountain lake and in the Gelten-Iffigen nature reserve invite you to linger. Then the trail heads downward to Groppi. With the rock faces of Mittaghorn on the right and Hohberg on the left, you hike the last part through the Iffig valley back to Iffigenalp. The mountain guesthouse Iffigenalp is excellent for a refreshment stop.
Afterwards, you return to the village of Lenk by bus or on foot.
