Description

Together with countless bathing spots, charming small towns, great playgrounds, and perfect accessibility by public transport, the Lake Constance cycle route is one of the best ways to discover this Central European gem.

The starting point of this stage is Romanshorn train station. Through the lakeside towns of Uttwil and Kesswil, you continue to Altnau, which has a well-kept lakeshore with wonderful bathing spots, inns, and campsites. The well-signposted route then continues via Kreuzlingen to the monument-protected community of Gottlieben, with views of the Wollmatinger Ried nature reserve. The Wollmatinger Ried is the most important nature reserve of Lake Constance. Among the 230 bird species living there is the rare black-throated diver. Then it goes through the former fishing village Ermatingen to Berlingen, known for the painter Adolf Dietrich who came from there, and finally to Stein am Rhein.
