Description

The starting point of this mountain bike route is the Näfels-Mollis station (436 m above sea level). For 7 km, it goes steadily uphill through the cool forest, crossing the Rautibach several times, up to the Obersee at 992 m. The route continues on a paved road along the Obersee, first gently rising and then increasingly steeply up to Sulz (1372 m). Now it goes briskly uphill over roots and stones, requiring stamina and technical skill to master this rough path. From Ober Lachenalp to the Längeneggpass (1814 m), the bike must be pushed or carried (about ½ hour, 120 meters of elevation). From the highest point of the route, there is a magnificent view of the nearby Redertenstock, with the Muttristock standing next to it, the mountain range along to the Lachenstock and Zindlenspitz. Opposite you can see the mighty rock faces of the Glärnisch and the Vrenelisgärtli.

The descent initially begins on foot again on partly loamy and soft ground. Technically skilled riders can start riding immediately. Soon the path becomes a somewhat wider natural path. The path gets better and better. There are repeatedly longer sections with grass stones that invite fast riding. After a longer descent, you meet the Pragelpass road. You follow this to the back end of the Klöntal lake and continue along the lake to Rhodannenberg. From there, you go down the Klöntalerstrasse to Riedern ob Glarus. In Riedern, turn left at the Staldengarten restaurant and so reach the main road at the end of Netstal. First following a stretch of the main road, then you take the cycle path back to Näfels-Mollis station.
