Best Time of Year
Description
The train comfortably takes you from Grindelwald or via Lauterbrunnen-Wengen to the mountain station at Kleine Scheidegg. The spectacular view of the north face of the Eiger will take your breath away upon arrival.
Once at the top, cross the railway tracks and follow the marked and prepared winter hiking trail downhill, passing Hundschopf to Wengernalp. The path continues gently downhill, partly through the forest, until you reach Allmend. The perfect place to take a break, as the splendid sun terrace invites you to linger.
Freshly strengthened, continue downhill towards Wengen. From afar, you can already see the first houses. The end of the winter hiking trail leads you through the village, past traditional chalets until you reach the center and train station of Wengen. The charming village of Wengen lies at 1,274 m above sea level, high above the Lauterbrunnen valley, and is almost car-free. From Wengen, the Wengernalp Railway takes you back down to the valley.
