Description

The train takes you comfortably from Grindelwald or via Lauterbrunnen-Wengen to the mountain station at Kleine Scheidegg. The spectacular view of the north face of the Eiger will take your breath away as soon as you arrive.

Follow the violet marked path, past the Hotel Bellevue. The path leads steadily uphill until you reach Fallbodensee. The lake was artificially created and serves as a water reservoir for snowmaking on the surrounding ski slopes in early winter.

Before you make your way back to Kleine Scheidegg, take a look at the "Chilchli", which lies directly by the lake. The "Chilchli" used to be the transformer station of the Jungfrau Railway and is today a listed building with an exhibition on the history of the north face crossing of the Eiger.

Here is the status of the winter hiking trails.
