Description

In the early 19th century, several textile factories were established in the Kempttal. Canals and dams powered the new machines and the old mills. Thus, the important food factory Maggi was founded in Kemptthal. Along the approximately 3-kilometer path from the former Mannenberger mill to Kemptthal station, there is much more to discover: for example, the modern engineering art of highway construction or the original Kemptthal station from 1855, which was built very close to the Hammer mill, one of the oldest businesses in the municipality of Lindau.

Since the Middle Ages, the water power of the Kempt has been used to drive mills and their auxiliary works. In the early 19th century, the mechanization of the textile industry led to several factory foundations in the Kempttal, which became an industrial axis of regional importance. A system of canals and dams provided the drive for the new machines and the old mills. Towards the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, the significant industry complex of the Maggi food factory emerged in Kemptthal.
