Description

The starting point is Kempten station. From here, you head through the nature reserve towards Auslikon and on to the Roman fort, where the foundations of the castle are clearly visible. The fort was built in 295 AD to protect the military road. From Oberwil, the route goes to the Balchenstahl mill, where grinding stones were already powered by water in the year 1450 AD.

Tobelweiher - Beginning of industrialization in Pfäffikon Further along the route, you pass the Tobelweiher. This is where the industrialization of Pfäffikon ZH began. The pond served as the inflow for the Pfäffikon village brook, which powered ten water wheels over a distance of two kilometers. Various finds from this time such as tools, jewelry, weapons, and similar items can be found in the local museum in Pfäffikon.

Kleinjogg, the model farmer in Wermatswil As a memorial to the farmer Kleinjogg, born in 1716, a monument fountain was erected in Wermatswil. He distinguished himself by improving his farm's yields through careful observation, diligent work, and new methods. The next stop is in Seegräben at the Juckerhof adventure farm. The farm includes a restaurant and its own farm shop as well as enough space for children to play and explore.

Regulierweiher near the old Stegen mill In the Robenhausen district of Wetzikon, the route follows along the nature reserve. In this swampy area, you find almost all the plants that occur in the raised and low moors of Switzerland. In addition, this area is a habitat for endangered plant and animal species. From here, the route crosses the Aa bridge, where you can turn onto the Riedweg path, and finally return to Kempten station.
