Description
At the start location of the hike at Schafhausen station in Emmental, follow the signpost indication Hammegg. After crossing the railway line, turn right and cross the Biglebach. Now a field path leads towards Sitebergwald and later along the forest edge. Before entering the forest, the view of the Bigi valley is worth seeing. From here, the route runs through the forest or along the forest edge, more or less steeply upwards to the hamlet of Bütschwil. There, turn right onto a level field path. Shortly before the farmstead Chüebode, a footpath ascends in the forest and later turns into a level forest path. At the first house of the hamlet Vorder Schwendi, take a few steps to the right and then a footpath uphill to the left in the forest. Shortly across pastures, interrupted by a short section on a driveway, you reach the Brandiswald. When leaving the forest, a resting place is available. Along the forest edge, proceed to the hamlet Brandiswald. Here the view opens to the Stockhorn mountain range. Effortlessly, you get through the forest to Hammegg. Now follow the signpost saying Nünhaupt. Shortly thereafter appears the memorial site for Karl Grunder, who grew up here. The poet wrote numerous Bernese German plays and musical comedies. His life's work was honored in 1946 with the overall prize of the Swiss Schiller Foundation. In his honor, the Hammeggchilbi takes place here annually. On a flat driveway, continue to Nünhaupt. Here turn right to Walkringen. The route alternates between field paths, trails and driveways, partly quite steeply downhill to the end of the route at Walkringen station.
