Description
From Hinwil station, follow the signs to Wildbachtobel. After a short walk, you arrive at the Rüegg dairy, known for its 34 homemade yogurt varieties. After the Hinwil local museum, stay on the road and follow it until it leads into Bachtelstrasse. There, keep left and follow the hiking trail signs again. The path takes you via the hamlet of Sack to Wernetshausen.
At the end of Chileweg in Wernetshausen, leave the marked hiking trail at the village entrance and turn left to reach the Bachtel dairy. This place is famous not only for its good cheese but also for its handmade raw milk butter and quark and yogurt assortment.
The hiking trail leads you through the forest to Girenbad. This little village offers two more dairies. The curious goats by the roadside point to Schupplis Geisse-Chäsi. They process regional goat milk into fine cheese varieties, such as the multiple award-winning fresh cheese. A few meters after the Geisse-Chäsi, you reach the Chäsi Girenbad. In 2020, this dairy won the bronze medal in Madison (USA) at the cheese world championship with the cheese "Ur-Eiche".
After the dairy, the route leads you on a panoramic path via Boden through the forest, continuing via Schufelberger Egg. At Auenberg saddle, you hike via Vorder Sennenberg, past the Bachtel pond, to Hinter Sennenberg. From there, you go up to the houses where you follow the signs towards Gibswil for about 40 minutes. After Blegi, you continue hiking through the forest. A root staircase leads you to a waterfall that is higher than the Rhine Falls – the Wissengubel. From here, you shortly reach Gibswil.
Embedded in the village of Gibswil is the well-known Gibswilerstube – enjoy a refreshing drink or a seasonal snack here and let the day end comfortably.
