Hiking trail "Rheinfelden star oaks": Stage 2

In the local citizens' community in 1944 Ernst Grell submitted the request, as a symbolic sign for the stars in the Rheinfelden coat of arms, “that nine oaks be maintained in the forest as an inviolable landmark and left standing for all future.” The request was accepted, and the then forest manager Fritz Wunderlin designated a total of nine oaks distributed throughout the forest parts – the star oaks. They were marked with a red star and consecutive number.

The hike is divided into 2 stages. It leads to the nine star oaks as well as past other very old and mighty “federal oaks”.
