Hiking the Chasseral Ridge

At the starting point of the hike at the Hotel Chasseral, follow the indication Orvin. The route mainly follows the Jura Höhenweg 5 of Wanderland Switzerland and is accordingly signposted. This long-distance hiking trail leads in 15 stages from Dielsdorf ZH to Nyon. The enjoyment of the view is especially worthwhile at the hotel: From the Three-Lakes Region over the Central Plateau to the Alps, a magnificent panorama unfolds. Northwards, the gaze wanders from the St. Imier valley to Mont Soleil with numerous wind turbines to the elevations of the Freiberge. Gently ascending, you reach the summit of Chasseral and the highest point of the hike. There is a panel with explanations about the transmission station. The tower is visible from afar and facilitates orientation. Next follows a longer descent on a trail through wooded areas to Les Colisses du Haut. Where the tree cover is less dense, glimpses of the view can be caught bit by bit. Further on, you go over pastures with sparse fir trees via Clédar de Pierrefeu to the Central Square / Place Centrale Pt. 1288. Continuing over pastures, you reach the SAC Jura house past a reservoir. Here you leave the Jura Höhenweg 5 and turn right towards Les Prés d’Orvin. Passing Métairie d’Evilard, the descent continues over open and partly loosely fir-covered pastures and through forest to the destination at the Les Prés-d'Orvin Bellevue bus stop.
