Description

If you want to leave your hiking boots at home, you can also walk in the valley. For example, in the Waldenburg valley from Bad Bubendorf to Liestal. This route can be taken leisurely and combined with various culinary delights, for example right at the beginning in the restaurant Bad Bubendorf. Did you know that it is also called the "Baselbieter Rütli"? About 190 years ago, around two dozen Baselbieter gathered here and demanded equality and a new constitution from the canton of Basel. This request was rejected by the Basel gentlemen, which the Baselbieter did not accept. Since 1833, there has been the canton of Basel-Landschaft.

After the stop at the historic former bath, the walk begins, partly along the Frenke in the direction of the cantonal capital. At the trees, one can observe impressively how autumn gradually takes hold. On the left side of the lower Waldenburg valley, where the path runs, it is noticeably quieter than on the right side, where the new route of the new Waldenburgerli is currently being built. Through the southern districts of Liestal, one finally reaches the little town, an ideal place to stroll. And maybe it's already time for the next coffee – maybe with cake, maybe at Café Mühleisen? The cantonal library at the station, from where various bus lines take passengers in all directions, also offers the opportunity to stop by. The largest library in Basel-Landschaft not only offers highly versatile nourishment for the mind but also for the palate.

This hike is presented to you in cooperation with AutobusAG Liestal. AAGL operates ten bus lines in central Baselbiet.
