Hiking by the Water - Taubenloch Gorge

Description
From the Frinvillier station, you walk down to the Schüss, which flows through the Vallon de Saint-Imier to Biel. However, the hiking trail does not initially follow the main river but follows the dammed canal of the power plant to the entrance of the gorge. Thanks to the dam, the Schüss here still babbles calmly. Passing the power plant, the gorge becomes increasingly narrow and the Schüss wilder. Deep green moss and stones covered with lichens line the river. High above us, the motorway crosses the gorge. However, the rushing of the Schüss drowns out the noise. The wide and well-passable hiking trail crosses the wild Schüss several times over bridges. Subsequently, high rock walls appear and announce the most beautiful section of the gorge. Here, the path is carved into the rock and leads high above the water through tunnels and galleries. Depending on the light, mystical moments occur. Facing the light, you leave the gorge and enter the town of Biel/Bözingen.
If you want to hike further, you can follow the Schüss along to the newly designed city park, the “Schüssinsel”.
