Hike Axalp – Axalp

In 1999, numerous trees were broken or uprooted on the Axalp due to avalanches and storms. Woodcarvers from Brienz then began carving sculptures from individual tree stumps. They continued their activities over the following years, so that a tradition of open-air carving gradually developed on the Axalp. Every summer, woodcarvers from the region create new works there.
