Description
From Kaufdorf station, first cross the wide Gürbe plain on the connecting road. Shortly after Gelterfingen it gets adventurous: A narrow forest path runs along a deeply cut stream ravine uphill and climbs over a pasture to the lane near the houses of Chramburg. The following forest edge hike is unparalleled: Above the wide, fertile Gürbe valley, the distinctive Stockhorn-Gantrisch range lines up, and above it the peaks of the Bernese Alps shine. Gerzensee offers something for everyone: an old church, a magnificent castle, a protected lakeside landscape, and excellent restaurants. The road village is crossed along its entire length. At the large intersection after the castle, head southwards and follow the lake at some distance. Soon a lane turns onto the scenic moraine ridge over which you reach the church of Kirchdorf.
